Why Obelisks?

Obelisks have a way of showing up where you don’t expect them—ancient Egyptian monuments standing in the middle of Rome, Paris, London, and beyond.

Once you start noticing them, you realize each one has a story: where it came from, how it was made, and how it ended up where it is today.

We like standing in front of them and trying to piece that story together.

Hatshepsut

Pushed obelisk building to its peak—bigger, faster, and more ambitious than anyone before her.

Thutmose III

Commissioned many of the obelisks that later traveled the world—whether he intended that or not.

Augustus

Started the trend of moving obelisks out of Egypt and into major cities—changing their story permanently.
